Assalamualaikum Welcome to Creative Kitchen. Today we’ll show you how to make labra or hotchpotch in rice cooker. Very easily we can make this by taking all ingredients in a rice cooker and just by turning the switch on. Now let’s make labra or khichuri (Hotchpotch). We’ll take Basmati rice 1/3 cup, 1 cup of red lentil and green mix, chopped onion half cup, cooled chicken half cup… 1 piece cube shaped chopped potato, green peas as required, green chilli 5 pieces, bay leaf 2 pieces, cinnamon 2 pieces, cardamom 4-5 pieces… 1 teaspoon ginger paste, 1 teaspoon garlic paste, salt 1.5 teaspoon, oil ¼ cup, turmeric powder half teaspoon, cumin half teaspoon… coriander powder half teaspoon, 2 cups of water, half cup of milk and some raisins. We’ve added all of our ingredients. Now we will mix them together. If we haven’t cooked chicken we can also use raw. We also can make it without using chicken. I have a story behind this recipe. I will share it with you after finishing our cooking. Now we’ll put all ingredients in a rice cooker and close the lid. We’ll follow the system to cook this as we do for cooking rice. Japanese rice cookers are mostly look like this. Here we’ll find “Takikomi Gohan” written in right side. If we select this menu, our hotchpotch will be cooked automatically. And if we select the menu for rice cooking it might not be completed at a time. Then we should switch on the cooker for twice to finish cooking. Now I am selecting Takikomi Gohan for making labra. We’ll turn on the switch and wait for 1 hour. One hour has passed. And I guess our labra is prepared now. I am going to open the cooker now. I will mix it a little. Now it’s ready for serving. This is how to make labra or hotchpotch. It is very easy to cook. You can make labra by using anything at your home. But must be careful about the quantity. We must be very careful about the quantity of water we’re using and the capacity of the cooker. The story of mine behind inventing this recipe is, once I had a little fight with my wife. We started sleeping in separate rooms. I’ve to work whole day in my office and had lunch there. It became a big problem when it was weekend cause I had to stay whole day in my home. I get a little lazy then. But what could I do for for my lunch? Then I came up with the idea of labra because with this I had to clean less dishes..! That’s the story behind my this recipe.
