We’re gonna have some time to get to know mackerel. [Q. The best time to eat mackerel is?]
A. It’s from September to November. That means it’s the best time to eat it now. Do you perhaps know this, guys? [Domestic / Norwegian]

Let it grill from top down. I’m going to check the fish every now and then, so set the timer at 15 minutes. Now, the oven is on. And mackerel grill starts now! Some of you might say this while watching this video. ‘Hey, I don’t have an oven at home… This video isn’t for me’ Hold on a second. I’ll tell you a nice way to grill mackerel on a frying pan! I promise you that you haven’t seen this way of grilling mackerel before. Keep your eyes on me. This is a way to grill mackerel on a frying pan for those who don’t have oven at home! I don’t think you’ve ever seen this kind of recipe on the Internet. First of all, turn on the stove. [Turn on the stove, first of all!] Keep at a low heat, since you’re gonna grill fish. Keep at a low heat and place your frying pan on the stove. The next one is! [Mirin!!]
It’s Mirin!! Mirin has 14% of alcohol content as some of you already know. It brings about more flavor of food, and it reduces bad smells such as fishy smell. [Mirin is the only ingredient you need!]
So, I’ll use Mirin and grill the fish. Now pour some Mirin on the frying pan. [Pour a lot of it~] Pour Mirin into the pan just little as mackerel will be slightly covered. Keep the heat as low as possible. Then, I’m gonna place the mackerel into the pan. Do you remember we placed the mackerel into oven like this? In this time, place it upside down so that the meat can direct towards the pan. Because heat comes from the bottom. Put the mackerel like this, upside down. Then, boil it down with Mirin! Apparently, Mirin has some sweetness too. So you will taste some sweetness from it. [Cook it until Mirin is boiled down :)]
Sizzling sizzling sizzling Check your mackerel time to time, and spread Mirin out evenly. When the meat is somewhat cooked, then try to flip it around. [Flip it properly, xD] Cooking after cutting half of the body is the best way to cook actually. But, (I didn’t cut) because we want to keep the looking nice [Success]
Like this! Cook until the top part of mackerel is cooked properly with the same low heat. It became quite sticky because of the sugar inside of Mirin. Keep the boiling Mirin to be put on the mackerel. It’s time to check for the mackerel inside of oven. Let’s see what’s looking like. Let’s take it out and look… Wow, it’s brown already. It looks so good. [According to Cooking Dragon, 180 degree / 13 min]
2 min is still left, but I think I can stop it now. Isn’t it gonna be delicious? It is a well-cooked, fatty and oily Norwegian Mackerel! Tada! So this is the table with cooked Norwegian mackerel and other side dishes! I purchased 4 mackerels for only 10,000 won (about $10). I defrosted it and fried it nicely. And I also showed you my tip which was cooked with Mirin for those who doesn’t have oven. If you do so, it comes out quite soft meat. And also because of the sugar inside of the Mirin, it turns out quite sugary and sticky. So you need to keep the heat as low as possible when you cook. When I was very young, I actually didn’t really like mackerel. But, I’ve never complained about mackerel since I had the mackerel cooked with Mirin. From that time, I started to like any type of mackerel dish, such as mackerel stew. So if your child doesn’t like mackerel, try to cook in these ways! Entire plate like this. It’s so good and sweet as well. It’s warm and nice, steamed rice! If you eat this Sunny-Side-Up fried egg together, it works so nicely. Take a big scoop like this, and then let’s try it with oven-fried mackerel in this time. This portion, the most delicious part. Remember it! Wow!! It’s really good!! Looks amazing, right? Kimchi goes so well with this mackerel. I still remember that I only needed Kimchi and steamed rice when I ate mackerel. Like this.. Pop the egg york, put some kimchi on it, and then I can roll it. Like this! Many said the most delicious part starts from the head of fish. So, many people ate head of fish including eye(s) of mackerel in old days. And the skin of mackerel is.. really tasty! Please don’t forget to eat this skin! Because this blue-backed fish is really healthy food. Let me show you how the pan-fried mackerel looks like. It looks like this. Put some kimchi on some mackerel meat, then.. Next, fried egg! This kind of big mackerel meat goes well with big piece of kimchi. I think this is the best part of mackerel for those who really likes mackerel. This black-ish part. It makes me crazy. It’s so savory and nice in texture. Do you know why? Because it has full of fat with thin layer of meat. Because of its characteristics, it makes savory, soft and oily. And this pan-fried mackerel with Mirin is also good. I’m pretty sure this will be liked by children who doesn’t really like fish. It tastes like sweet chicken skewers. It’s so tasty. Actually, just cooked steamed rice and kimchi combination is the best, isn’t it? Like this! Alright, guys. This blue-backed fish with full of Omega-3.     집에서 자반고등어 조리할때 꿀팁이 고등어 껍데기에 되게 얇은 막이 있는걸 손으로 살살 밀면 양파껍질처럼 벗겨지는데 그거 벗기고 발코니나 옥상에 면포로싸서 한 30분 살짝 말리고 구워드시면 비린맛 확 줄고 훨씬 신기한 식감으로 드실수있습니다ㅋㅋ
