How to Make Amish Pot Roast ~ Slow Cooker Roast Beef Recipe

Hi I’m Tess and this is another easy and
delicious Amish recipe. I’m going to show you how to make Amish pot roast in the
slow cooker. Very few ingredients and good. Stay tuned! This is an Amish pot roast recipe in the
slow cooker but it can also be cooked in the oven. I have a chuck roast and you can use any
kind of beef roast you may have. The seasonings are simple. A little salt and
black pepper, a sprinkle of thyme, and a couple of crumble bay leaves and just
crush the leaves as fine as you can. I’m seasoning both sides of the beef roast
and placing in the crockpot. You can find this recipe and the list of ingredients
in the description box below. On top the roast I’m adding 1 large
sliced onion. This Amish pot roast is traditional with the onions but you can
also put any other veggies in there that you like… like celery, potatoes and
carrots are really good! One more ingredient and that is black coffee. This
recipe calls for one to two cups of black coffee and I’m putting in two cups
since this is a larger roast and I will be making gravy. Covering and cooking for
four hours on high or you can cook eight hours on the low setting. It’s been four hours and the kitchen is
smelling wonderful! The beef roast is done. The beef is nice and tender and moist.
The onions add lots of flavor throughout. The coffee flavor is very mild if any
and really just adds a richness to the beef and broth. You can use any unflavored coffee you
like. It really makes a delicious gravy! This Amish pot roast slow cooker recipe
is easy and comforting. Lots of flavor! The leftovers are great for sandwiches

    I'm confused about the bay leaves… I'd always been taught that bay leaves don't soften, therefore are kinda dangerous if you eat them ("don't forget to take them out before serving!"). These are crunched up and appear to be eaten with the pot roast… Don't you have problems with them???
