How to Make Empanadas : Adding & Heating Oil for Frying Empanadas

Andrea Spano and I’m going to be showing you how to make empandas from my new book Not
Just Desserts. We have preheated our pan and I put in the vegetable oil that we need I
will say maybe a 1/2 inch or maybe 3/4 of a inch thick cause we want to fry the empandas
without them sticking to the bottom. So we are going to make the oil nice and hot so
when we put in the empanda it starts to bubble and the bubble stops it from sinking to the
bottom to stick on the bottom of the stainless steel pot. You know sometime you try to take
it off and the empanda is going to rip and the meat is going to get to the oil and ti
is going to be a big mess so make sure that the oil is very hot. So that it would sizzle
when the empandas are put in.
