Retkellä ja kalassa yön yli – parasta!

Hi everyone! Summer is not quite over yet. It’s the 3rd of September, and the weather is still warm. Let’s head out again. We’ll set up our hammock by a lake, and see if we can catch any fish. We’ll make some food over an open fire, and enjoy some quality time in nature. Welcome along! This area is called the Riuttaskorpi recreational forest. It’s a small area in northern Pirkanmaa, located roughly between the Helvetinjärvi and Seitsemisen national parks. It’s made up of so-called multi-purpose forest. It’s not a protected area. It’s much quieter here, than at the nearby national parks. This is a very nostalgic place for me. When I was younger, I used to hang out here with certain friends. Back then, I was a total novice. I didn’t really know how to read a map, or such, and I didn’t have proper equipment of my own. We slept here in very cold temperatures, too. I combined two summer sleeping bags to keep warm. I used to take a regular pillow along with me, tied on top of my pack. We stayed at the different lean-tos in the area. This is the Suutarilankoski lean-to. I’ve spent many a night at this particular spot. I always liked sleeping on this side, My friends usually slept over there. I preferred lying this way, with my head at the open end. The others had their heads at the closed end. Right in front of the lean-to runs the Suutarila rapid. I don’t ever remember seeing it this dried up. I don’t ever remember seeing it this dried up. Normally, there’s a lot of water. There used to be an old mill situated here. Bog water…brown. It doesn’t smell, though, and it doesn’t taste bad, either. This old bridge is in such bad shape, This old bridge is in such bad shape, that it’s been closed off. We won’t be staying here for the night. We won’t be staying here for the night. I just wanted to visit this place for nostalgic reasons. I just wanted to visit this place for nostalgic reasons. It’s a nice place, with that small river running over there. When I look at Otava (the Big Dipper), for some reason, I’m reminded of a line from the Kalevala (Finnish national epic): “The birthplace of the bear is on the shoulder of Otava” That’s quite epic. I’m not sure why. The birthplace of the bear is on the shoulder of Otava A small pike! Just the right size. A small pike! Just the right size. A small pike! Just the right size. I had to think hard about about the ethicality of fishing, before finally taking up fishing, myself. before finally taking up fishing, myself. I’ve seen some nasty consequences of fishing, like bits of fishing line, left in the water and on the beach…or tangled in trees. like bits of fishing line, left in the water and on the beach…or tangled in trees. like bits of fishing line, left in the water and on the beach…or tangled in trees. Caught straight from the lake, prepared over an open fire. Not at all the same thing as preparing it in an oven. Butter melted on top… It’s time to head back home now. It was a good trip. Q/A: Kuinka pitkään olet harrastanut retkeilyä? Tämä mainitsemasi ns noviisi aika sekä nämä yksin retkeilyt?

Video tuli just kun olin itse kalassa.

Q&A Parikin kysymystä ja yksi ehdotus. Sitten siihen videoehdotukseen. Vaikkakin näissä videoissa on sellainen hyvä elämänmaku, niin olisi silti hienoa nähdä jotain offcutteja reissuilta, sellaisia missä asiat eivät mene niinkuin on suunniteltu tai jopa ihan pieleen. Kiitos videoista, näillä on hyvä maadoittava vaikutus ainakin itseeni.
